The annual stɑl̓əw̓ Pow-wow is back!
I hope everyone is enjoying the final stretches of summer before a busy fall comes for us all (ooo, spooky!). While the summer was filled with fun Indigenous events, September is quieter on the events front as folks get back into the work and school rhythm. That being said, there is one very exciting event coming up in September that I hope everyone can attend and enjoy!
The second annual stɑl̓əw̓ Pow-wow will be held from September 15 at 5:00 p.m. to September 17, 10:00 p.m, at the Langley Events Centre (7888 200 St, Langley, BC V2Y 3J4, Canada).
The stɑl̓əw̓ Pow-wow is a weekend long event open to both Indigenous peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, and it will include a vast number of performances, vendors, and family-friendly fun! Each day will include a drum roll call, Grass Dancers (Blessing of the Floor Ceremony), opening remarks and welcomes from the Matsqui, Katzie, Semiahmoo, and Kwantlen First Nations, and a variety of competitions and special performances. There will also be a number of Indigenous vendors (including my favourite artist Amanda Ruth Beads!), food, singing, and dancing.
We hope you are all able to attend this fantastic event! Check out this link for a full schedule of events and more information about the stɑl̓əw̓ Pow-wow here!
